Yamaha Music Australia: Professional Audio //
Poster designs ranging in size from A0 to A4, to suit a multitude of purposes such as in-store point of sale, promotional giveaways at expo events, artist signings.
Often lifestyle images were provided in bulk by parent company (Yamaha Music Corporation, Japan) where a fresh approach was required locally, to appeal the Australian market. Paiste advertisements were placed in street press magazines to attract a younger audience – hence a grungy, raw approach was taken to design – whilst maintaining sharp lines to echo the pristine clarity of these high quality cymbals.
Product images provided by the parent brand were sometimes low quality – often where product had been photographed on a cluttered showroom floor. Before they could be rendered useable, the images often required work: photoshop was used to clip, crop and clean up the files – and then used to superimpose products within layered background artwork. >> Marketing manager enters on a Monday morning “Hey I’ve got this cool idea for our new drum kit; what if we run with the line ‘Rock any stage’ and show our drum kit set up in the grand canyon?” Time to dust off those photoshop skills…
